6th March has been a day for the Independence Celebration since 1958 for Ghana.

It is a day Ghana celebrates its precious independence from Britain. The day is always filled with joy but the 2025 edition at Kumasi will be full of sadness.

One of the famous sons of the Asante Kotoko family, Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley, will be laid in state, buried, and a final funeral rites will be observed for the 44-year-old.

Pooley met his untimely death in February 2025 when the Porcupine Warriors visited Nsoatre for round 19 of the Ghana Premier League. The staunch supporter was stabbed by a yet-to-be-identified criminal and died at the Nana Koramansah Park after bleeding internally.

Asante Kotoko has warned Bloggers, Journalists and the general public not to take videos or pictures of the dead body of POOLEY when he is laid in state.

The club has confirmed that whoever does that risks getting their cameras, phones or devices destroyed during the final funeral rites on Thursday.

Pooley’s final funeral rites will be observed at Heroes Park in Kumasi on Independence Day.
