Ashanti Region: Police shoot three armed robbers to death after committing multiple robberies

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has prevented a robbery on the Anwiankwanta–Obuasi Highway by shooting and killing three individuals suspected of being armed robbers.

Police reported that they encountered suspects Seidu Issah, Musah Yakubu, and Yahaya Munkaila, also known as Tijan, on December 24, 2025, while the suspects were getting ready to commit a robbery.

The suspects are said to have shot at the officers, who returned fire, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. Two others were able to escape despite sustaining serious gunshot wounds.

Authorities reported that they found firearms, such as pump-action shotguns and a pistol, along with ammunition at the location.

The suspects are thought to have committed multiple robberies in the area, including incidents at Jacobu Airport and on the Manso stretch. Investigations are currently being conducted to identify the sources of weapons and to apprehend the remaining accomplices.
