The Ashanti Regional Police Command have launched an investigation into an incident where a patrol team from the Jacobu District was attacked by a group of civilians at Bepotenten Sukuum during their routine patrol.
On January 23, 2026, police found a pump-action gun with a 15-year-old boy and instructed him to have the owner report to the police station with the necessary documents.
The police stated that the patrol team was later faced with a group of approximately 100 individuals who obstructed the road and were reportedly armed with machetes and guns.
The group allegedly attacked the officers and escaped with a service rifle.
During the following confrontation, police shot the person who took the weapon, while another attacker was injured. The service rifle that was stolen was later found.
The Ghana Police Service have decided to investigate and arrest all the perpetrators and prosecute them.
Per multiple reports, Bepotenten Sukuum youth are well known for being notorious.
