It has been officially confirmed that Ghana will host the 24th edition of the African Athletics Championship in Accra.
This decision was officially announced during the Confederation of African Athletics Council Meeting in Douala, Cameroon.
The 23rd edition is ongoing in Douala Cameroon. It will be the first time Ghana will host the prestigious competition in its 45 years of existence.
The last time West Africa hosted it was in 2018 when Nigeria properly organised it in Asaba.
The bid team of Mr Majid Bawa (NSA), Fuseini Bawah, and Charles Osei Asibey from Ghana Athletics ought to be congratulated for this wonderful achievement.
The University of Ghana Sports Stadium which recently hosted the 13th edition of the All African Games will be the venue for the championship in 2026.
