Carlos Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic in the 2026 Australian Open final, securing his maiden Melbourne title and becoming the youngest man in history to complete the Career Grand Slam.

The Spaniard triumphed 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5 in a thrilling four-set battle at Rod Laver Arena.

Carlos Alcaraz entered the final as world number one but faced the daunting challenge of Novak Djokovic, a ten-time champion who had never lost in an Australian Open final before.

Djokovic started strongly, taking the first set 6-2 with his trademark precision and baseline dominance.

At that point, it looked like the Serbian was on course to secure a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title. However, Alcaraz showed resilience, adjusting his tactics and raising his intensity to turn the match around.

In the second and third sets, Alcaraz’s aggressive shot-making and athletic court coverage overwhelmed Djokovic.

He broke the Serbian’s serve multiple times, winning the sets 6-2 and 6-3. The Spaniard’s ability to dictate rallies and absorb Djokovic’s pressure highlighted his maturity at just 22 years old.

Both players had come through gruelling semi-finals, but Alcaraz’s youthful energy and fearless approach proved decisive as the match wore on.

The fourth set was a tense battle, with Djokovic fighting to extend the contest and Alcaraz determined to close it out. At 5-5, Alcaraz produced a crucial break of serve before holding his nerve to seal the championship 7-5.

Dropping his racket in disbelief, he celebrated a historic victory that not only denied Djokovic his 25th major but also etched his own name into tennis history.

By lifting the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup, Alcaraz joined legends like Agassi, Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic himself as one of the few men to win all four Grand Slam titles.
