There are so many notable absences in Otto Addo’s team to face Mali and Central African Republic in June.
Athletic Bilbao’s Inaki Williams, Le Havre’s Andre Ayew, PAOK’s Baba Rahman and LA Galaxy’s Joseph Paintsil are all absent from Ghana’s team for June’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Andre Ayew’s absence is a personal decision from Otto Addo, Inaki and Paintsil’s absences are due to injuries while Baba Rahman’s is because the left-back is not ready to play for Ghana.
“I have seen his performances. At the moment he is not ready to come back. What happened in Kumasi affected him and his family a lot,” stated Addo.
“We would have needed him very much. I had a long talk with him and I even wanted to fly there but he was sure he wouldn’t change his mind,” Addo added.
Otto Addo revealed that he would have wanted Baba back due to his stellar performances for Greek champions PAOK but the 29-year-old is unwilling to represent Ghana at the moment.
The former Chelsea and RTU defender has suffered emotional abuse from Ghanaians as he has been booed and jeered by fans even at his favourite Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
He sees no reason to face another abuse after being able to find his rhythm in Greece.
Ghana travels to Mali and hosts the Central African Republic in MD3 and MD4 in June.
