Former Hearts of Oak head coach Martinus Koopman said that the lack of goalscorers in the Ghana Premier League is a national issue.

Many did not understand him. Many understood him.

The truth is, Ghana is a country that has failed to produce great finishers, especially since the turn of the New Millennium, unlike Grade A midfielders.

The problem has not been in the national team alone but also in the domestic league. Forwards can do everything beyond astonishing but always find it difficult to score.

It is a national disaster. The problem is a national disaster.

Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford’s side was the better side in the 1-1 draw against Asante Kotoko at the Kpnado Sports Stadium in round 25.

His side’s major issue throughout the season visited them once again as they failed to utilize their chances, costing the team the whole three points.

After the game, Bashir Hayford lamented the lack of finishers in Ghana.

“The problem is finishing. In Ghana, we have strikers, but we don’t have finishers. They always run and mess up in the final third. I always work on my strikers just to improve on scoring,” Bash said.

Ghana’s goalscoring problems have become a huge issue with forwards finding it difficult to finish chances.
