Heart of Lions have competed for the Ghana Premier League title since the beginning of the season. Bashir Hayford’s side have exceeded expectations and are still hunting for the title. The Kpando-based club is five points behind leaders Asante Kotoko and four behind second-placed Bibiani Gold Stars.

Sitting third on the log, Heart of Lions’ head coach, Bashir Hayford, after the 2-1 defeat at Dun’s Park in Bibiani against Gold Stars, didn’t lose hope for the title but insisted 10 games are many, so they will continue to fight.

“We have about ten matches left, and so 10 matches’ means 30 points,” Hayford said at a post-match conference. “It can make a difference. If somebody is leading with five points, and we have 30 points to contend with. We shouldn’t have to relax and say they are leading,” Bashir Hayford said.

“It is not over. [Even] When someone leads with 10 points, you can struggle and [catch up]. It is not over, we will struggle and see what we can do,” Hayford added.

The experienced gaffer said the title challenge is not over for his side and they will continue to fight for the ultimate prize.

Heart of Lions will host Asante Kotoko at the Kpando Sports Stadium and travel to Berekum Chelsea in weeks 26 and 27. These two games can potentially end their title aspirations or inspire them for the title challenge.
