Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has visited injured NPP Central Regional Organizer, Anthony Sackey, in a show of solidarity and support, following a motor accident that occurred in the early hours of Saturday, July 19, 2025.
Sackey, a key regional executive of the NPP, was reportedly involved in the crash while on party-related duties.
His condition, though serious, is said to be stable, and he is currently receiving medical attention.
The incident has prompted a wave of concern among party faithful and supporters, especially in the Central Region where Sackey has been a visible mobilizer ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Dr. Bawumia, who served as Vice President from 2017 to 2025, visited Sackey at the hospital alongside Central Regional NPP acting Chairman Percy Dennis Quaicoo and Assin South MP, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour. The visit comes at a time when the NPP is working to consolidate internal unity following a competitive flagbearership next year.
Dr. Bawumia’s presence at the hospital was seen by many within the party as a reaffirmation of his commitment to grassroots engagement and a signal that his political focus remains people-centered, even as the party transitions into election campaign mode.
The former Vice President offered prayers and well wishes to the injured organizer, encouraging him to remain strong and assuring him of full party support during his recovery.
“Your contribution to the party is invaluable, and we thank God you are responding well to treatment,” Dr. Bawumia reportedly said during the brief visit.
His visit also served a symbolic purpose, reminding observers of the importance of empathy and unity within the party ranks—especially in the wake of internal tensions and national political uncertainty.
Many grassroots members took to social media to commend the gesture, describing it as typical of Dr. Bawumia’s accessible and humble leadership style.
