Playing for the national team is considered the pinnacle of every footballer’s career. No one dares to joke with his national team because millions of people are always watching.
Arsenal right-back cum centre-back Ben White decided not to play for England again during Gareth Southgate’s last two years as the head coach of England. It brought massive disappointment among the fans of the England national team with many demanding the FA to ban him for life.
Chris Waddle has joined the massive calls from the English citizens to never let White play for the national team again for disrespecting them.
“No, I wouldn’t bring Ben White back in. He said he didn’t want to be picked again. He spat the dummy out, didn’t he? So now he’s right to play. So, he wants to pick and choose his England career?
“Listen, you would never say you never want to play for England. I would never have said that. I would have played if I was 50.
So, modern-day players who say that I’m not being picked, so don’t pick me again, all of a sudden become available.
“For the time he didn’t play, he didn’t want to play, I would say, well, we’ll give you the same ban. So, if it was a year or two years, then I’d consider you in two years.
“For me, you should never say no. Now, okay, if you don’t get on with the manager and you don’t like the style of play, you wouldn’t be picked anyway. But when you get a late call-up, you don’t say no,” Criss Waddle concluded.
The new manager for the Three Lions, Thomas Tuchel, has opened the doors for every English footballer for the national team, only if you regularly play for your club and can fit his style.
Ben White has hinted at playing for England once again, but many don’t want him, with some saying no one should pick and choose games and competitions they prefer to represent England.
