The Black Satellites coach, Desmond Ofei, has praised his team’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Benin in the ongoing U-20 WAFU B Championship.

The team secured a place in the semifinals with Bless Ege’s second-half strike at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

Ofei admitted that Benin was a tough opposition, but his team showed character and stood on their toes to fight for the victory.

“It’s a hard-fought victory,” Ofei said. “Honestly, we needed the win, so we had to show some character, and the boys showed that today, and that was what we were missing in our last game, and luckily we came away with a good goal and that led to the three points, so we are very happy.”

Finishing Second in Group A

With goal difference, the Black Satellites will finish second in Group A and will face the winner of Group B in the semi-final.

The team will be looking to build on their momentum and make a strong impression in the knockout stages of the tournament.
