His Excellency John Dramani Mahama ordered his newly appointed ministers to not fly in business class but rather first class in his bid to the cost-cutting approach to save the nation some money.

Many thought it was applied to the Black Stas as it has suddenly become a huge debate in the local media with international football looming large. The bosses of the Ghana Football Association to were warned to not fly in Economy.

The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams has told Ghanaians that the rule doesn’t apply to the footballers though it applies to members of the Ghana Football Association.

“The President’s directive affects all sectors, including the FA, unless we are chartering a flight, which usually doesn’t have first class. However, you can’t put players in economy class because they rely on their legs for performance, and they need enough space to stretch. You don’t expect them to squeeze in economy and then perform at their best. If it’s a short flight, like from Accra to Kumasi, it’s manageable, but for long flights, at least business class is necessary,” he stated.

Black Stars players are preparing to face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday and will travel to Morocco to face Madagascar next week.
