The Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Monday night was so noisy and in a jamboree mood even when it was raining. The fans cheered the Black Stars on as they needed a win against CAR at all costs.

Brighton & Hove Albion defender Tariq Lamptey has expressed his delight in the support the Black Stars got in the 4-3 win over Central African Republic on matchday 4 of the World Cup qualifiers.

“It was very loud, with lots of support, we could feel it straight away. It’s that type of support that pushes you on and motivates you to work hard to get the results for the team and the fans as well because we know how important it is for us to win and for us to show that we’re working harder and try to get it for them so it just pushed us on,” Lamptey told 3Sports in an exclusive interview.

“They were like the 12th man on the team so we’re grateful for their support and it was amazing to be back playing there. It was my first time and how the game went obviously maybe some people will be a bit up and down but it was an amazing day and, in the end, we got the results we wanted.”

Ghana will return to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March 2025 against Chad and another great crowd is expected at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Kumasi is indeed a Heaven for the Black Stars as they deliver even if they are not at their best.
