37-year-old Dillian Whyte was brutally knocked out in round one by the 20-year-old Moses Itauma. Tipped by many connoisseurs of the sport to be a world champion at a very young age, the youngster announced his presence to the world.
Unbeaten in his first 12 bouts, it was the finest opportunity for Itauma to break into the table of men, and he seized the opportunity by smashing Whyte. The youngster is now unbeaten in 13 bouts and is looking forward to making a name for himself in Heavyweight boxing.
How Itauma brutally knocked out Whyte
Saudi Arabia hosted two British heavyweight boxers on Saturday night. The expectations were high for both boxers, with Whyte struggling from the onset to get close to Itauma in the early exchanges. The speed advantage of the youngster was evident, and he landed a great jab.
Itauma then landed a couple of body shots, followed by a right hand, before unleashing a fierce barrage of punches that hurt Whyte as he was against the ropes.
Whyte wobbled before hitting the canvas, the referee was considering an intervention, and Whyte never looked like getting back to his feet. The referee waved his arms, and that was another win for Itauma.
Impressive and destructive, the 20-year-old looked, whilst the veteran was embarrassed to the core.
Itauma speaks after the win
“I’d like to say a big thank you to the Saudi crowd and the English crowd. I love and respect you all.
“I’d like to thank His Excellency and Frank Warren for making this fight happen. And I’d like to thank the Body Snatcher Dillian Whyte; it takes two to tango, so thank you very much for giving me this opportunity to showcase my skills.
“To be honest, what Ben (Davison, his trainer) was telling me to do, I saw he was doing exactly what Ben said. After a few minutes, I kept seeing it happen and thought I could not miss this.
“Honestly, I will fight anyone they put in front of me. Shout a couple of names out and I’m there.
British boxing has gotten another gem after Joshua seemed to be heading towards retirement. Fury has confirmed that he is not returning to the ring again after back-to-back defeats against Ukrainian undisputed champion Usyk.
Daniel Duboise was recently beaten easily by Usyk, making it look like there is no man in Britain now.
Is Itauma the man now? Moses has promised that whoever that will be presented to him, he will fancy his chances.
