The final round of the group stage ended on Sunday afternoon with Sundowns securing the final spot after a hard-fought 1-1 against Moroccan side FAR Rabat. Peter Shalulile’s 12th-minute goal put the Brazillians ahead. Amine Zouhzouh in the 83rd minute struck for the Moroccans to make the score 1-1.

Raja Casablanca defeated Congolese side Maniema 1-0 but failed to qualify from the group. The Moroccans finished a point behind second-placed Sundowns with their rivals FAR topping the group.

On Saturday, Belouizdad and Pyramids disgraced West African clubs Stade d’Abidjan and Djoliba. Both teams were beaten 6-0. it explained the huge gap between West African clubs and North African clubs.

Yanga drew goalless against Algerian side MC Alger. The Algerians secured the second spot after Yanga failed to beat them. Young Africans bow out of the tournament with Al-Hilaland MC Alger qualifying. TP Mazembe thrashed group winners Al-Hilal 4-0 in DR Congo to exit the group particularly. Jean Diouf, Ibrahima Keita, Merceil Ngimbiu and Shaibu Suleman were the scorers for the 5-time winners of the competition, TP Mazembe.

Esperance beat Angolan side Sagrada 4-1 to top Group D. Achref Jabri scored a hattrick for the Tunisians.

Orlando Pirates became the third team to beat Al Ahly in Cairo in the CAF Champions League after Jeanne d’Arc (2-1) in 2002 and Sundowns (1-0) in 2022. Orlando Pirates won 2-1 with Relebohile Mafokeng scoring in the 53rd minute to give the South Africans a deserving lead. Hussein El Shahat in the 69th minute equalized for the Red Devils. Tshegofaso Mabasa snatched the winner in the 83rd minute for the Bucs.
