The Accra Sports Stadium will witness it’s first CAF Champions League game since Accra Hearts of Oak defeated Wydad Casablanca 1-0 on 17th October 2021 via Isaac Mensah’s first half strike.

Samartex 1996, champions of Ghana will welcome Raja Casablanca, the champions of Morocco in a crucial play off CAF Champions League tie.

Raja returns to Accra since October 23rd 1999 when they drew goalless against Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium in matchday 5 of the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

Samartex from the Western part of Ghana opted to play at the Accra Sports Stadium because their venue, Nsenkyire Sports Arena doesn’t meet CAF’s standard.

After beaten Cameroonian champions, Victoria United in their debut Champions League tie, they are meeting the experienced 1997 champions.

Double winners and unbeaten in Morocco in the 2023-24 season, Sarmatex must quadruple their efforts before they can secure a favorable scoreline ahead of the second leg.

Nurudeen Amadu and his charges face a task that words can’t describe. They have a huge legacy to protect as no Moroccan club has ever won in Ghana in the CAF Champions League.

The 2012 spirit showed by Berekum Chelsea against Raja Casablanca in the 5-0 thumping in which Emmanuel Clottey bagged a hattrick is all that Samartex needs on Sunday afternoon.

Samartex has won Ghana’s Super Cup and drew goalless against Dreams in their opening league fixture of the new season.

Raja Casablanca on the other hand was unbeaten in the entire season in the 2023-24 campaign but got the new season underway with a 1-0 home defeat against RS Berkane.
