Round 2 of the CAF Champions League got off on Friday afternoon with Nigerian side Rivers United losing 2-1 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo to RS Berkane. The Nigerians took the lead via an own goal from Senegalese midfielder Camara in the 37th minute. After defending and keeping their shape extremely well throughout the entire second half, the Nigerians suddenly lost their focus in the 97th minute when Younes El Kaabi’s strike equalised for the visitors. Shockingly, the Moroccans in a minute later after a poor decision from goalkeeper Onisodumeya, where Mounir Chouiar scored the winner, much to the disappointment of Finidi George and his charges.

FAR Rabat drew 1-1 in Morocco against Al Ahly, where Trezeguet’s 68th-minute strike equalised Hrimat’s first-half goal from the spot.

Tanzanian side Young Africans secured a good point in Algeria in the goalless draw at JS Kabylie.

Sundowns’ visit to Algeria to face their former boss, Rulani Mokwena’s MC Alger. The fierce contest ended in a goalless draw, with the South Africans the happier of the two sides.

On Saturday, Power Dynamos lost 1-0 in Zambia against the defending champions Pyramids at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. Mohamed Reda’s 57th-minute strike made the difference.

89th minute, Esperance drew 1-1 in Angola with Aboubacar Diakite equalising in the 89th minute to break Petro Lunda’s heart. The Angolans had taken the lead through Tiago Reis in the 49th minute.

St Eloi Lupopo drew 1-1 in Congo against Al-Hilal Omdurman. Abdelrazig Omer put the visitors ahead earlier in the first half. Congolese centre-forward Kashala Ramos in the 79th minute restored parity for the Congolese side.

Simba SC lost their second game of the group stage after the Malian side Stade Malien won 2-1 against the Tanzanians. Nkeng and Simpara’s strikes in the 16th and the 23rd minutes respectively, helped the Maliens take a two-goal lead. Neo Maema in the 54th minute pulled one back for the visitors, but they still lost.
