Egyptian side Pyramids FC defeated RS Berkane of Morocco 1-0 to win the 2025 CAF Super Cup, marking their first triumph in the competition thanks to a sumptuous second-half goal from the imperial Congolese striker Fiston Mayele.

The match, held at the June 30 Stadium in Cairo, was a celebrated occasion for Egyptian football, as the home side capped off a remarkable continental run with another trophy. This win adds to their growing reputation, following their CAF Champions League triumph last season.

The first half of the encounter was a cagey affair, with both teams adopting a cautious approach.

RS Berkane, known for their defensive discipline, managed to frustrate Pyramids’ attacking efforts, while the Egyptian side struggled to find rhythm and penetration.

Chances were few and far between, and the match headed into halftime goalless, leaving fans on edge and anticipating a more open second half.

After the break, Pyramids FC began to assert themselves, gradually taking control of possession and pushing Berkane deeper into their own half.

Their persistence paid off in the 75th minute when Congolese striker Fiston Mayele latched onto a precise pass from Moroccan defender Mohamed Chibi and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

The goal sparked wild celebrations among the home supporters and proved to be the decisive moment of the match.

RS Berkane attempted to respond in the final minutes, but Pyramids’ defence held firm, showcasing composure and tactical discipline.

The Moroccan side couldn’t find a breakthrough, and the final whistle confirmed Pyramids FC’s historic victory.

It was a moment of pride not just for the club but for Egyptian football, as Pyramids became the latest team from the country to lift a continental title.

This triumph marks a significant milestone for Pyramids FC, a club that has rapidly risen in prominence over the past few years.

With two major continental titles now under their belt, they have firmly established themselves among Africa’s elite, and they expect to win more in the coming seasons, especially with the massive financial backing.

The win also highlights the impact of key players like Mayele, whose ability to deliver in crucial moments continues to elevate the team’s success on the big stage.
