Ghanaian gospel artiste, Celestine Donkor, has joined forces with the Road Safety Authority (RSA) to launch a national road-safety campaign aimed at reducing the country’s rising number of traffic fatalities.

As part of the initiative, Donkor will create new music and produce video content to highlight the causes of road accidents. She also plans to leverage her influence to engage communities in promoting safer driving habits and responsible road behaviour.

Celestine urged motorists to prioritise basic safety practices. “Wear your seat belt always. And be patient on the roads,” she said.

The campaign comes against the backdrop of alarming figures: from January to August 2025, 1,937 people reportedly lost their lives in road accidents, an average of six to eight deaths every day.

This is not Celestine’s first foray into social-impact work. She has previously mobilised a collective of female gospel musicians to support ailing and elderly veteran artistes, providing aid quietly and without public attention. She also served as a vaccination ambassador for the Ghana Health Service during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping boost public confidence in vaccines.

Through the new road-safety campaign, Donkor hopes to highlight the real-life consequences of everyday choices on Ghana’s roads and inspire citizens to take greater responsibility for safe driving.
