Ghana Black Stars has Otto Addo as the head coach, John Paintsil as an assistant coach and Fatau Dauda as the goalkeeper trainer. It means that the technical team is all Ghanaian affairs.
John Paintsil has no experience as a coach, so many have been wondering the reason why he got the job as the assistant manager of the Ghana Black Stars.
Charles Taylor, former Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko and Black Stars’ forward, has expressed his disappointment the decision by Otto Addo to select John Pianstil as the assistant manager.
“If you pick John Paintsil as an assistant, are you a good coach? Paintsil himself said he hadn’t gotten to that level yet but was given the role.
”I want to know if the GFA or Otto Addo decides the backroom staff because the current people won’t help him to succeed. The technical team members don’t deserve to be there. You have this wealth of talented players, so why can’t you qualify from a group of Sudan, Angola, and Niger?”, Charles Taylor said on Angel Sports.
Otto Addo led Ghana in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers where Ghana couldn’t defeat any of Niger, Sudan and Angola in Group F.
The Black Stars disappointingly finished bottom of the group forcing Ghanaians to ask for his sacking.
Ghana will return to action in 2025 for the continuation of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
