Ghana Premier has been on break for three good weeks with no sign of returning any time soon after Pooley was killed on 2nd February 2025 when Asante Kotoko visited Nsoatreman at the Nana Konamansah Park in week 19 of the Ghana Premier League.

The GFA immediately suspended the league after the death of the GPL’s biggest hyper, with clubs like Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak demanding massive reform before the league restarted.

On Angel Sports on Friday, former Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko’s bonafide forward Charles Taylor revealed that he wanted the league to be resumed to prevent players from being rusty.

“I don’t see the essence of putting the league on hold for all this while. As much as we want justice for Pooley, we can resume the league to avoid players becoming rusty,” Charles Taylor said.

GPL teams have been training regularly but have not been playing competitive games. Charles Taylor believes if they are not involved in active games, they will be in very bad shape when the league resumes.

Round 16 of the MTN FA Cup fixtures will be played over the weekend and many believe it will be the opener for the return of the GPL.
