Real Madrid legend Pepe announces retirement from football at 41

The legendary Portuguese international has scored an unbelievable 908 goals since turning out as a professional footballer.

The former Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus striker recently revealed that he aims to score 1,000 goals before he retires. The 39-year-old, who will turn 40 in February 2025, has reduced his expectations and is ready to retire with any number.

“I now face my life living in the moment. I can’t think long-term anymore,” Ronaldo revealed.

“I can no longer think about what I said publicly that I wanted to reach 1,000 goals. But it seems that everything is easy now, just last month I reached 900.

“It’s about living in the moment, enjoying the moment, and seeing the response that my legs will give me in the next few years. One thousand goals is great, but if it doesn’t come, I’m already the player in history with the most goals.”

The Al-Nassr star man received the Quinas de Platina trophy, the highest award given by Portugal’s Football Federation (FPF). He added the huge accolade to his 5 Balon d’Or and other enviable awards.
