Former Ghana defender Dan Quaye has advised the man of the moment, Benjamin Asare, to not be complacent and keep on trying hard to maintain the number one position of the Black Stars.

Ghana played well in the two games against Chad and Madagascar in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The players dazzled compared to what they did during the 2025 AFCON qualifiers in 2025.

The player who stole the show is Hearts of Oak’s number one goalkeeper, who benched Ati-Zigi and Joe Wollacot for the number one slot. He conceded no goal in the two games, winning the hearts and support of many Ghanaians.

Dan Quaye, who was part of Ghana’s squad in the 2006 FIFA World Cup,, in an interview on Bryt FM, offered Asare a piece of advice that would help the goalkeeper.

“I will advise him (Benjamin Asare) not to be complacent after this matches.

“He should stick to his training and get rid of pride. Asare should be careful and I believe he can attain greater heights, Dan Quaye said.

“We all know the impact of local goalkeepers in the national team, so I wasn’t surprised with his performance,” Quaye added.

Otto Addo, in the post-match conference of the Madagascar’s game, boldly confirmed that Benjamin Asare is the number-one goalkeeper for the Black Stars.
