The promise race is in full swing as the aspirants for Ghana’s presidential seat have commenced their perenial “empty promises” ahead of the General Elections.

NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia at the launch of NPP manifesto on Sunday revealed his plans for the Ghana Premier League.

“If I am voted into power, my government would support the revival of the Premier League and clubs to improve commercial viability and to create related jobs,” the vice president said.

These are some of the measures proposed by Dr. Bawumia to help revive the Ghana Premier League;

● “Directing policy through the National Lotteries Authority and the Gaming Commission to establish and fund a Sports Employment Module to assist Premier League clubs fund operational expenses, including player remuneration.”

● “Provide a bus each to Premier League clubs” to lessen the transportation challenges faced by these teams.

● Dr. Bawumia says his government intends to use tax incentives, such as a flat tax, to incentivize private sector investments in sports in order to further encourage corporate investment in the sports industry.

Whoever wants to help revitalize the Ghana Premier League is always welcome if only the promises will be fulfilled. The league is in desperate need of financial assistance.

Speaking during the NPP’s 2024 Manifesto launch, Alhaji Bawumia said the document offered audacious solutions.
