Police officers working at the Tinkong Police checkpoint on the Koforidua to Mamfe Highway in the Eastern Region have apprehended a woman for allegedly trafficking a significant amount of suspected narcotics, thought to be cannabis.
The individual was in a Toyota Voxy commercial vehicle travelling from Koforidua to Accra on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 3, 2026, when she was stopped by alert police officers at a checkpoint.
The officers, consisting of three men and two women, performed a detailed inspection of the vehicle and the luggage of the passengers as part of their standard procedures.
The inspection revealed an Ecolac bag located at the rear of the vehicle.
The bag had a significant amount of wrapped items believed to be drugs, hidden beneath clothing.
The woman was recognised as the owner of the bag and was promptly taken into custody.
She acknowledged that both the bag and its contents belonged to her.
She reportedly admitted to selling drugs for a living for some time.
The suspect and the evidence that was collected have been taken to the Eastern Regional Police Headquarters to aid in the ongoing investigations.
