Born Bradley Jean-Manuel Essolisam Barcola to a French mother and Togolese father in 2002, the 22-year-old has been enjoying his football since joining PSG from Olympique Lyon in 2023.

He is now a full French international who even participated in the 2024 European Championship in Germany.

Bradley Barcola was eligible to represent Togo through his father but chose to play for a country of his French mother.

“He’s going to play in a team that has already won the World Cup. Can he win an AFCON with Togo? No. Can he qualify for the World Cup with Togo now? I don’t think so.”

“I can’t be disappointed that he chose to play for France. He’s a younger brother; I’m happy for him. We also have to be realistic: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 … More visibility. He is French first; it is his country of birth. He also plays for PSG, a big European club that plans to win the Champions League.

“Playing for France, beyond the sporting side, brings him a lot of financial guarantees and visibility compared to Togo. Sponsors, match bonuses, qualification bonuses. Not to mention the trips on the continent: with France, you are relaxed; each time it is a short flight, and you can return to your club quietly afterwards.

“For us, just to go and play in Zambia, we had to go to Mozambique and then land in Libya before arriving in Zambia, where you are already exhausted. Then, after that, you have to play the match and make the same trip on the way back. You come back to your club, and you’re sore because of all this,” Emmanuel Adebayor said.

Emmanuel Adebayor has backed Bradley B4arcola’s decision to play for France as he stated so many reasons.
