“Even José Mourinho was recently sacked by Turkish side Fenerbahçe after failing to progress to the League Phase of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League.

Frimpong Manso’s Bibiani Gold Stars were beaten 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg of the CAF Champions League against Algerian side JS Kabylie in the first leg of the preliminary round.

The former Asante Kotoko and Black Stars defender was sacked on Monday morning much to the surprise of football fans across Ghana. The decision has led to much criticism of the club hierarchy, with many suggesting the club should have waited for the tie to be concluded.

“Even José Mourinho was sacked, so how much more Frimpong Manso?”, the Chief Executive Officer of the club said on Sporty Drive.

His choice of words are being criticized by Ghanaians. Football fans think that the CEO has been extremely disrespectful to the coach, who has won the Ghana Premier League and the GHALCA Top 4 this year.

Akwasi Adu continued, “The decision to part ways with Coach Frimpong Manso goes beyond football”.

Fans of the club are struggling to understand the decision to part ways with the brilliant boss.

Reason behind the sacking of Frimpong Manso

Frimpong Manso, according to Kessben Sports, believes it is because he opposed a friendly match against Semper Fi FC. He revealed that the team was tired after the top and was being cautious with injuries ahead of the Super Cup against Asante Kotoko.

The club spend 8 hours from Accra to Bibiani and was not comfortable at all with another 16hrs to be spent in the game against Semper F1.

Frimpong Manso’s side of the story

“Unbeknownst to me, the match had been rescheduled before our game against JS Kabylie, which I had declined without knowing about the change. Although we discussed the timing, and the issue seemed to be resolved, I later found out that the club hadn’t informed the opponent.”

“This lack of transparency and communication may have contributed to the perception that I’m difficult to work with,” he added.

“I texted the CEO, Akwasi Adu, but I’m yet to hear from him. However, I think we can talk about it later,” he revealed to Kessben FM.

Bibiani Gold Stars will immediately appoint a new coach soon after the trip to Algiers to face JS Kabylie.
