FIFA suspends Samuel Eto’o for 6 months for breaching organisation’s disciplinary code

Per FIFA, Samuel Eto’o the presidemt of Cameroonian Football Federation, has breached two articles in the organization’s disciplinary code

The ban is linked to an incident during the just ended Under-20 Women’s World Cup round of 16 match between Cameroon and Brazil on 11th September. Brazil won the game 3-1 after extra time in Colombia.

According to FIFA’s statement, the former Barcelona and Inter Milan forward’s actions during the match is against the principles of fair play and involved offensive behavior, leading to his suspension.

What happen’s to his CAF president ambition?

Samuel Eto’o’s six months ban will hugely affect his ambitions to contest for the CAF Presidential Election.

It is very impossible now because FIFA says, “the ban starts in October and the CAF elections will take place on 25 March 2025”.

Samuel Eto’o has declared his intention to contest for the CAF presidency recently.

Football fans across the continent questioned his decision because he has always been in the news for wrong reasons; from bribery, corruption and interference to intimidations .
