George Afriyie has been a staunch critic of the current administration of Ghana’s Football led by Kurt Okraku.

The former GFA vice president has constantly criticised Kurt’s leadership, which has seen the country lose completely in the development of football.

Ghana, in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, failed to win a single game. It happens to be the first time since the group stage format was introduced in the qualifiers for AFCON.

Angola, Sudan and Niger all enjoyed one victory each over Ghana, while the four times winners of the AFCON failed to record a single victory in the six games played in Group F. Ghana surprisingly finished bottom of the group.

In an interview with Asempa FM, George Afriyie disclosed that it is stipulated in Otto Addo’s contract that if he fails to qualify Ghana for the 2025 AFCON, he should be sacked.

“One of the clauses to terminate Otto Addo’s contract is if he does not qualify the team to AFCON”, George Afriyie said.

Pressure has been mounting on Kurt Okraku and Otto Addo to leave their respective roles as the FA president and head coach of Ghana, but the duo remains bullheaded.

Otto Addo has spent just 8 months of his three-year contract, while Kurt’s second term will end in 2027.
