The Ghana Education Service (GES) has initiated an investigation into a troubling incident at Kumasi Academy, where a female student was subjected to physical assault by her fellow students. This incident, which took place on Monday, August 12, has ignited widespread concern over student discipline and the overall safety of students in schools.

Sampson Anawuni, the Municipal Director of Education, revealed that the GES has established a committee to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that those involved face the necessary consequences. He condemned the attack, describing it as “an abuse of a girl-child” and stressed the importance of swift and decisive action to address such serious issues.

The assault occurred after a group of students accused the female student of engaging in inappropriate behavior and proceeded to physically manhandle her across the school premises. A video of the incident, which has since gone viral on social media, has led to public outcry and demands for immediate intervention from both parents and the broader community.

In response to the growing concerns, the GES has promised to take the necessary steps to safeguard the well-being of all students. Simultaneously, the Ghana Police Service has launched its own investigation to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.
