Ghana Education Service is set to add the Chinese Language to the school’s curriculum, according to the Education Director of Central Region.
French, English and Arabic are some of the major languages the Ghana Education Service allow students to learn in addition to the various Ghanaian Languages.
The Chinese Language is now being learned at some of the top Ghanaian Universities, and the G.E.S. thinks that it is about time the basic and secondary schools start learning language.
Director of Education in Central Region, Mr Emmanuel Essuman, made the revelation during the inauguration of a regional training centre for local teachers in West African countries, an event which was attended by students from primary, basic, senior high, and tertiary institutions.
“It is worthy to note that Chinese language education has provided an opportunity for students in the Central Region not only to learn a second language but also to pursue degrees in Chinese, access scholarships in China, participate in global competitions such as the Chinese Bridge, and secure employment in Chinese enterprises,” Emmanuel Essuman stated.
The Chinese Language has given so many opportunities to students of the language as many get the opportunities to study and work outside Ghana.
