The Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi has been rejected by the Ghana Football Association’s Club Licensing Committee after a thorough inspection of the venue ahead of the much-anticipated Ghana Premier League return.

Fans and leaders of Asante Kotoko have expressed their disappointment and shock at the decision to disqualify Baba Yara Sports from hosting GPL games.

Per multiple sources, due to the absence of a designated safe zone, a key requirement under the Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols 2025, Baba Yara will not be available.

Asante Kotoko will have to find a new venue for their home games when the league resumes on 7th March. Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Abrankese is an option alongside the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi.

Ghana Premier League has been suspended since the killing of Pooley on 2nd February when Asante Kotoko visited Nsoatreman at the Nana Konamansah II Park.
