The government has set an unbelievable GH¢50 million ( 500 billion old cedis) bail for the Chairman of the National Patriotic Party’s Asanti Regional Minister, Wontumi.

Chairman Wontumi is under investigation for various criminal offences (including fraud, causing financial loss to the State, and money laundering),” according to the Deputy Attorney-General, Justice Srem Sai.

According to the Minority Leader in Ghana’s Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the GH¢50 million bail set for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako also known as Chairman Wontumi, is unfair, unreasonable, and too harsh.

The minority on Thursday organised a mini demonstration demanding the release of the chairman of NPP in the Ashanti Region.

EOCO has informed the NPP that Wontumi will be released if GHC50M is being paid.
