In a meeting with Foreign European Ministers in Brussels at the African Union and European Union meetings for ministers in the week, many issues were discussed between the two. Issues about the two continents were thoroughly discussed. The war between Israel and Palestine was also thoroughly discussed, as many called for peace to reign between the two nations.

Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has revealed how he expressed his unhappiness that women and children were denied humanitarian assistance and called for a ceasefire and the release of hostages by Hamas.

On his X wall, the Foreign Minister wrote;

Both in my speech and further engagements with European Foreign Ministers at this week’s African Union-European Union Ministerial Meeting in Brussels, I expressed Ghana’s strong displeasure at the conduct of the Israeli Government in preventing the United Nations from sending much-needed humanitarian aid to an estimated 2 million distressed Palestinians in Gaza.

It is totally unacceptable for harmless civilians, particularly women and children, to be denied humanitarian assistance.

Multilateralism and the conscience of the international community face a grave assault when the United Nations is prevented from offering crucial help to vulnerable Palestinians facing starvation and death.

Ghana firmly joins the growing condemnation which have been clearly articulated by the EU, UK, France, Canada, South Africa and Pope Leo XIV.

Ghana demands an immediate ceasefire, release of all hostages by Hamas, an end to the ongoing permanent forced displacement of Palestinians and a genuine commitment to the two-state solution.
