A win for Nations FC at Abrankese against Heart of Lions would have won them their first-ever major title in the top flight of Ghana’s football. Nations FC lost 2-0 at home to Heart of Lions, ending their hopes of being champions. Samuel Quansah and Asante Seedorf’s goals were enough for Heart of Lions to end Nations’

Elsewhere in Bibiani, Gold Stars needed to beat the already relegated Accra Lions and hope that Nations FC would drop points at home. Astonishingly, Bibiani Gold Stars mauled Accra Lions by 4-0.

Goals from Amoaful Abdul Farouk, Kelvin Oppong, Samuel Atta Kumi and Frank Amankwah ensured that Bibiani will party all night long after fighting hard for the title.

Frimpong Manso’s men, ahead of the game, knew anything at all could happen on the final day, so they were determined to smash Accra Lions to fancy their chances.

The win means Ghana’s Premier League has had 5 different winners in the last 5 seasons, as Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, Medeama SC, Samartex, and Bibiani Gold Stars have all tasted glory.

Asante Kotoko, who had slim chances of winning the league, lost 3-1 at Vision FC. Kotoko ended the season in 5th place after so many inconsistencies in the season. Emmanuel Antwi’s first-half goal was cancelled by Edmond Asante’s 49th-minute strike. A brace from Frank Duku in the tail end of the game condemned the Porcupine Warriors to Karim Zito’s first defeat.

Hearts of Oak defeated Samartex 1-9 at the Accra Sports Stadium to end the season on a high note. Konadu Yiadom’s second-half strike ensured Phobia finished 4th on the table.

Aduana Stars beat Holy Stars 3-1 in Dormaa Ahenkro. Tetteh, Marfo, and Boakye’s goals helped the Ogya Boys record a win to end the season.

Dreams thrashed Legon Cities 4-1, Medeama lost 2-1 at Tarkwa to Berekum Chelsea, while Bechem United narrowly pipped Young Apostles 1-0.
