Ghana Premier League to resume on March 7th

Ghana Football Association has confirmed that the Premier League will resume on 7th March after more than a month’s break. Pooley was killed on 2nd February in Nsoatre when Kotoko visited Nsoatreman for the week 19 clash.

No Premier League fixture has been played since that black Sunday in Nsoatre because of poor security systems across the country’s various grounds.

Clubs have demanded a tougher security system at the various league centres, fairness in Ghanaian football, and severe punishment for hooligans around the league centres.

The Ghana Football Association has confirmed that the GPL will resume a day after Pooley’s burial. Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley will be buried on 6th March. Asante Kotoko promised that they would return to active football soon after the burial of their star supporter Pooley.

The GFA, Ministry of Sports and Recreation, and the respective GPL clubs have reached an agreement to resume the league.

People have been trained for Matchday Safety and Security protocols per reports from the GFA.

Matchday schedules round 20, 21, and 22

Matchday 20 is set for Tuesday, March 18, to Thursday, March 20; Matchday 21 will occur from Tuesday, April 1, to Thursday, April 3; and Matchday 22 is scheduled for Tuesday, April 15, to Thursday, April 17, 2025, all at approved venues.
