Phobia started Round 16 with a narrow 1-0 win over Samartex. Hamza Issah’s first-half strike made the difference on Boxing Day at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon.

On Saturday, Vision FC defeated Nations FC by a lone goal scored by Stesofia Agetey on the stroke of halftime.

Heart of Lions lost 1-0 to Medeama at the Kpando Sports Stadium. It was the first time under Bashir Hayford that the club had lost back-to-back home games. Heart of Lions have lost their last four games in the GPL, making it a difficult moment for the club. Kevin Braye’s 20th-minute strike ensured a great three points for the Mauve and Yellow.

On Sunday at the Wenchi Town Park, Aduana Stars drew 2-2 with Young Apostles. Richard Opoku’s strike in the first half put the home team ahead. With four minutes played into the second half, Samuel Prempeh doubled Young Apostles’ lead. Aduana Stars, through Charles Gyamfi and Daouda Sidibe’s goals in the 82nd and 92nd minutes respectively, helped the Ogya Boys steal a precious point.

Sweduru All Blacks shared the spoils with Karela as Solomon Nareba’s opener for All Blacks was cancelled by Malik Abubakar’s equaliser in the 74th minute.

Holy Stars continued their resurgence with a 2-0 home win over Hohoe United. Basake Holy Stars sit 10th on the league log with 10 points behind the leaders, Asante Kotoko, surprisingly.

Razak Salifu’s first-half brace put Dreams FC 2-0 ahead at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani against Gold Stars. The Minners, through Barimah Baah’s brace and a goal from Emmanuel Agyei, completed a wonderful comeback for the defending champions.

Berekum Chelsea secured a 3-1 win at the Golden City Park against Eleven Wonders. Prince Anane, Samed Musah and Badori were the scorers for Samuel Boadu’s Chelsea.

Asante Kotoko was impeccable at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium when they faced Bechem United. Abdul Karim-Zito’s charges smashed the Bechem-based club into pieces as they demolished them by 6-0. A brace from Morifing Donzo and an own goal from Ampiah gave Kotoko a 3-0 lead in the first half. Hubert Gyau, Johnson Owusu, and Kwame Poku’s strikes in the second half condemned Bechem United to an embarrassing defeat.
