Ghana Premier League Week 2: Fixtures, previews, kick-off times and dates
Week 2 of the Ghana Premiership was supposed to commence with a blockbuster fixture at the Duns Park, where Bibiani Gold Stars were to host Asante Kotoko. The game was postponed due to the two clubs’ involvement in the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup.
Medeama at the TNA Park will welcome Vision, where they will expect to make it two wins from two games after recording a 2-0 win at Young Apostles on matchday one, while Vision FC drew goalless at home to Samartex.
On Saturday, Eleven Wonders will welcome Bashir Hayford’s Heart of Lions, who commenced their season with a slim 1-0 victory over Dreams FC. Eleven Wonders won a point at Basake Holy Stars and would want to at least win another point against the well-organised Heart of Lions.
Hohoe United will play their first-ever game at home in the Ghana Premier League at the Hohoe Sports Stadium against Young Apostles. The home side is confident ahead of this game after drawing at Hearts of Oak last Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium. Young Apostles did not start the season well after being beaten by Medeama at the Wenchi Town Park. Another defeat at Hohoe will be catastrophic, so expect a tough match in the Volta Region.
On Sunday at 3 pm, four games will be played with Aduana Stars welcoming Nations FC to Dormaa-Ahenkro. Nations bounced back from a goal down in their 2-1 win over newly-promoted side Sweduru All Blacks. A visit to Dormaa-Ahenkro has never been an easy one for any club. Aduana Stars lost 1-0 at Karela in their first game of the season and will expect to record their first victory of the season.
Bechem United will entertain Holy Stars at the Bechem Park. Bechem United’s trip to Gold Stars ended in a narrow defeat. Fans expect Darlvin Yeboah, Regain Boa-At and Frank Amankwaa to help steer them to a first win of the new campaign.
2023-24 champions Samartex SC will host their first game of the season at their famous Nsenkyire Sports Arena, where life looks extremely good for them. Karela United are bad travellers but can pull a shock at Samraboi.
Swduru All Blacks will have a full house when Berekum Chelsea visits on Sunday. The Sweduru-based club has missed the top flight for over a decade and a half, with their fans set to welcome them with immense love and affection. Berekum Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Kotoko at home has put them under pressure, with head coach Samuel Boadu willing to avoid back-to-back defeats in the early part of the new season.
Hearts of Oak’s visit to Dreams FC will round up things for week two of the 2025-26 Ghana Premier League season. The Phobians calamitously commenced their new season with an unacceptable 0-0 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium against the newly promoted side Hohoe United. Mas-Ud Didi Dramani’s side will dream of a win at Dreams, but must double their efforts to win. Dreams FC, on the other hand, have no point after the 1-0 defeat at Kpando Heat of Lions.
