Ghana has dominated the All-African U-15 Badminton Championships, winning an impressive five gold medals and one silver medal in the six-event tournament finals.
The championship, dubbed the Ghana Grand Slam 2025, took place at the state-of-the-art Borteyman Sports Complex and featured top junior talents from 24 countries across the continent.
Ghana’s Rising Stars Shine
Obampo Adu-Mintah, stole the spotlight with an outstanding performance, securing four gold medals across multiple events.
Meanwhile, U-15 national girls’ champion Moslena Ama Adu Koramah added to the medal haul with three golds and a silver.
Koramah’s impressive wins included the women’s singles final, where she defeated Algeria’s Chiraz Halimi 2-1 in a nail-biting encounter.
Commanding Performances
The hosts delivered commanding performances in both the boys’ and girls’ singles finals.
Adu-Mintah and Koramah’s wins showcased Ghana’s badminton prowess, securing top honours in the tournament.
Ghana’s dominance continued with gold medal victories in the team relay, boys’ doubles, and mixed doubles.
Government Support
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Kofi Iddie Adams, commended the athletes for their stellar display and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing badminton through the upcoming Sports Fund initiative.
This initiative aims to bolster not only badminton but sports in general across the country.
The Ghana Badminton Federation’s President, Evans Yeboah, lauded the U-15 team for their exceptional performance and encouraged them to maintain their winning momentum in future competitions.
