2025 is surely Hearts of Oak’s iconic goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare’s year.

The 32-year-old former Accra Great Olympics goalkeeper got his first-ever call-up to the Black Stars and suddenly dethroned perennial first-choice goalkeepers for the national team, Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joe Wollacot.

Asare was chosen ahead of these two household names as the number-one keeper for Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers against Chafahd and Madagascar, where the country won 5-0 and 3-0, respectively.

After the unimaginable rise to the top of his career, he was financially not looking good as he was spotted boarding a tro-tro in Accra.

Alhaji Seidu Agongo promised to gift him a car so that he could feel comfortable and have enough quiet time for himself.

Alhaji delivered his promise on Wednesday morning and delivered a brand new Hyundai Elantra for the sober Hearts of Oak and Black Stars goalkeeper.

Phobia thanked Alhaji Agongo via their Facebook page

“Good Leadership Rewarded!

“Our captain, Benjamin Asare, has driven performance on and off the pitch; now he’s driving home in style.

“Congratulations on this well-deserved gift. From guarding the goalposts to earning the keys.

“For club. For country. For the badge. A true leader’s efforts are recognized. Congratulations, Capito.

“Asare this morning received a Hyundai Elantra gifted to him by Alhaji Seidu Agongo,” Phobia wrote.

Benjamin Asare has been named for Ghana’s friendly games in London against Nigeria and Jamaica by head coach Otto Addo.

He has been Heart of Oak’s main man for their mediocre season.
