Accra Hearts of Oak ended the first round of the Ghana Premier League with a goalless draw at Samartex.

Hearts started the match in 5th place on the league table and needed a win to keep up with league leaders, Heart of Lions.

However, Aboubakar Ouattara’s men struggled to impress and appeared to be content with a goalless outcome, right from the first half.

Samartex, who were led by new coach Christopher Ennin, looked more enthusiastic but did not have much beyond that.

Sunday’s result leaves Hearts in 6th place with 29 points, four points behind league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars.

Meanwhile, defending champions Samartex are two places beneath Hearts, having amassed seven points fewer.
