Aboubakar Ouattara is the happiest man in the Ghana Premeir League now after his struggling Hearts of Oak defeated Medeama at the TNA Park in Tarkwa.
The result is a bit shocking considering the forms of the two teams ahead of the game.
The Mauve and Yellow had won 15 points with just three behind the leaders, Bibiani Gold Stars.
Hearts of Oak was sitting in 12th position after the 1-0 defeat against Gold Stars at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
Many predicted doom for Aboubakar Ouattara and even suggested it could be the end of his stay with Phobia because Medeama is a very tough side.
As the floodlights were beaming on the TNA pitch before kick off, Ouattara and his men were planning on how to sink the Mauve and Yellow in Tarkwa.
Hearts of Oak’s first half was full of aggression as the players were shown 4 yellow cards. Head coach Aboubakar Ouattara also received a yellow card.
Medeama was on top of the game in the first 45 minutes as expected but they failed to have a single shot on target.
The second half was full of action with Hearts of Oak taking the lead in the 66th minute after former Legon cities forward Kwabena Boateng scored the opening goal. Hamzah Issah’s shot whih was already walking into the empty net was tapped in by the forward.
Mawuli Wayo added the second with two minutes to end the game. Phobia’s 2-0 win over Medeama was an incredible feat after being under immense pressure since losing to Bibiani Gold Stars.
The win sends Hearts of Oak to 7th on the league with 12 points from 9 games.
Medeama suffered their first defeat of the season and sits 3rd with three points behind the league leaders.
