No one saw it coming. Who would have predicted a win for Legon Cities against the formidable Fabulous?

The beleaguered Legon Cities did the unthinkable under the shinning floodlights of the beautiful University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The University of Ghana Sports Stadium witnessed the biggest shock of the season thus far as second placed Kumasi Asante Kotoko was beaten by the winless Royals.

Paa Kwesi Fabian’s Royals showed that they are indeed the Royals after putting aside all the unbelievable troubles that have bedevilled them throughout the season and recorded an impressive win over Prosper Ogum’s side.

Heading into the game, Legon Cities had not won a single game in 7. Five defeats and two draws had been recorded putting head coach Paa Kwesi Fabian under immense pressure.

Asante Kotono needed a win to level on points with leaders, Bibiani Gold Stars. Kotoko’s draw against Basake Holy Stars in week 8 sent a signal to the fans that the team is still under construction but no one expected them to be beaten by the bottom placed side.

19-year-old midfielder Albert Yeboah put the home side in the lead in the 22nd minute. It was a bit shocking because Asante Kotoko has been unbreakable against far better sides but got broken by the weaker Legon Cities.

The new Asante Kotoko star, Albert Amoah, scored in his 4th consecutive game for the Porcupine Warriors. He equalised in the 76th minute to revive the Kotoko fans’ lost confidence.

Surprisingly, Rahim Yaya Abdul snatched a 93rd minute winner for Legon Cities to silence the jubilant Asante Kotoko fans. The youngster’s strike sent Paa kwesi Fabian and his bench to pure football heaven.

The win has helped Legon Cities move from the bottom to 17th. Dreams FC now sits in the bottom of the league log.

Asante Kotoko will host Bashir Hayford’s Heart of Lions at Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium on Sunday as fans will expect the team to return to winning ways.

Giant killers Legon Cities will host Young Apostles and will look forward to continue from where they ended.
