Kwadwo Asamoah’s 51st-minute strike was enough to help Heart of Lions beat Asante Kotoko 1-0 at the Kpando Sports Stadium.

Speaking after the game in an interview with StarTimes, Bashir Hayford reflected on his encounter against Kotoko some years ago.

“I previously defeated Asante Kotoko with Heart of Lions and they refused to continue playing, stating ‘yen bo bio’ (we will not play again).”

Bashir Hayford was extremely excited about the win over Asante Kotoko which has helped send the Kpando-based club out of the relegation zone. He recalled his famous game against Kotoko which Asante Kotoko decided to not continue again.

“Today, I am coaching the same Heart of Lions team on the day of our stadium opening, and we’ve emerged victorious against Asante Kotoko,” he summed up with fulfilment.

Kpando Sports Stadium, the home of Heart of Lions has been under construction which has prevented Bashir Hayford’s side from using the venue. It was opened on Saturday as Heart of Lions won 1-0 against Kotoko in the first game at the Stadium.

Heart of Lions are out of the relegation zone to 15th after the wonderful win over Asante Kotoko.
