FIFA has slapped Accra Hearts of Oak with a transfer ban over $150,000 debt owed to former technical director Rene Hiddink.

The club will not be able to register new players, both domestically and internationally.

The ban will be lifted once they pay every penny of the $150,000 they owe Rene. Also, compensation must be settled by the club with Hidink.

The Phobians terminated Hiddink’s three-year contract with only less than a year into his reign. FIFA sanctioned the club to compensate him, but the club has failed to do so, forcing the world’s governing body to act.

FIFA announced;

“Accra Hearts of Oak is hereby banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, until the due amounts are paid to Mr. Rene Hiddink.

“The ban shall be lifted immediately upon settlement of the debt.

“Should the club fail to comply, the ban will cover a maximum of three entire registration periods.

Rene Hiddink’s lawyer, David Winnie:

“Hearts of Oak acted dishonestly and sneakily. They knew the FIFA ban was coming, so they rushed player registrations. I will petition FIFA to dissolve the club,” he told Oyerepa FM.

Rene Hiddink is the brother of the famous Guus Hiddink, who managed PSV, the Netherlands, Chelsea and Russia among so many teams.

The 70-year-old did not enjoy a coaching role at the top level like his brother, but has managed in Rwanda, Madagascar, Ghana and the Maldives.
