Kennedy Ohene Agypong, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Bryan Acheampong and Francis Addai-Nimo were the four politicians who had announced their interest in the NPP flagbearer position.
It was rumoured that former Education Minister, who is now the member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, Dr Yaw Adutwum, was also going to announce his intentions for the prestigious role in the opposition NPP.
On Wednesday, Adutwum finally announced his plans.
“With humility, conviction, and a resolute heart, I, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, declare my intent to run for the flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), should nominations be officially opened by the party,” he stated.
NPP has announced that they will select their flagbearer in January 2026 to help them ensure unity ahead of the 2028 General Election.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who led them, was completely beaten by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama in the presidential Election in 2028.
