‘I Can’t Sponsor A Gambling League’ – McDan on Ghana Premier League
A Gambling league!! That’s how Daniel McKorley, the founder, chairman, and chief Executive Officer of the McDan Group of Companies described the Ghana Premier League.
Betpawa, the headline sponsors of the Ghana Premier League withdrew their sponsorship by not giving any proper reason in the middle of the 2023-24 season.
With a few weeks to the end of the same season, StarTimes, official broadcasters, also decided to end their marriage with the Ghana Premier League.
The 2024-25 season is just a month to commence with no headline sponsorship and broadcasters. It has become a very sad issue for football fans across the country because a league with no sponsorship will affect the clubs.
“I would’ve sponsored Ghana Premier League, but the gambling is too much” – Daniel McKorley, CEO McDan Group told Asempa FM.
In an interview on Asempa FM, the wealthy McDan didn’t mince his words as he fired the organisers, teams, players and fans of the Ghana Premier League.
“The match fixing is collapsing our game. You’ll watch a game and how a goalkeeper will concede a goal is funny and it is because someone must win a bet.
“That’s why your players don’t go anywhere, let’s try and sanitise Ghana Football” – McKorley added.
McDan Group of Companies have three Divisions, namely; McDan Shipping Company, McDan Aviation and McDan Logistics.
