“World Cup qualification would bring happiness to Sudan” – Kwesi Appiah

Ghana head coach Otto Addo is full of confidence the Black Stars will bounce back to winning ways after disastrously missing out on the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

The head coach came under severe criticism for not winning a single game in the Morocco 25 qualifiers

Ahead of Chad’s game on Friday, Otto Addo told the press that each game is very important and statistics don’t really matter a lot to him.

“For me, it’s not about qualifiers, World Cup, or AFCON qualifiers. Each and every game is important. Surely, I think it’s difficult sometimes to compare circumstances, especially if you have friendly matches or matches where you have a lot of injuries. I know the statistics count, but for me, it doesn’t count too much,” Otto Addo said.

The statistics will not count for Otto Addo because it doesn’t read well for him. He won only two games for Ghana in the entire 2024 in the 10 games he managed.

In the six AFCON qualifiers games against Sudan, Niger and Angola, Otto Addo failed to win any, so he will never ever rate higher in any form of statistics.

He continued, “Each and every game is important. We always try to do our best. I’m looking forward to this match. I’m really, really looking forward to this match to also bring back a little bit of positivity and confidence to the players. I hope Chad is coming in at the right time and preparing the boys.”

Chad’s game must be a turning point for the Black Stars. Failure to pick up the three points could end Otto Addo’s time as the head coach of Ghana because people have lost confidence and belief in him.

“This is football. Sometimes, you have ups, and sometimes, you have downs, but the most important thing is to learn from the downs. And even if you have ups, be critical enough to look at the improving points,” he concluded.

Ghana had so many horrible moments in 2024 and the team must pick up the available 6 points against Chad and Madagascar for Ghaianians to quickly forget about the monumental failure in 2024.
