Thomas Partey was deployed at right back to show his enormous versatility on Saturday evening against Brentford. The midfielder cum defender has become so important to Arsenal after showing that he can play many important positions.
In Arsenal’s 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium, Thomas Partey put the Gunners ahead in the 61st minute before Congolese forward Yoanne Wissa equalised in the 74th minute for the Bees.
Jurien Timber, in the 69th minute, replaced Thomas Partey at right back. Partey was feeling uncomfortable and Arteta explained the reason why he brought out the Ghanaian.
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager explained why Partey was substituted in the 1-1 draw.
“We didn’t expect the issue with Thomas [Partey] that we had to take him out. He felt something so we didn’t want to take any risks. We don’t know, I haven’t spoken to the doctors yet,” Arteta said.
Many Arsenal fans were disturbed by Partey’s situation on Saturday night, but it looks likely that he will be part of Arteta’s team on Wednesday for the second leg of the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
