UCL round-up: Mohammed Salah scores 50th European goal for Liverpool, Barcelona beat Benfica 5-4

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara, who is now a broadcaster on talkSportUK has backed Mohammed Salah for the 2025 Balon d’Or.

Truthfully, there is no player currently in the world who has had an impact on his team in the current football season. The 32-year-old Egyptian superstar has been the hero in Liverpool’s bid for their 20th EPL title, having scored 25 goals and provided 17 assists in 28 games.

Speaking on Talksports UK about Salah’s blistering form, O’Hara said, “I think Mo Salah is nailed on for the Ballon d’Or. Liverpool are going to win the Premier League at a canter. They haven’t even got out of second gear for most of the season, and Salah’s been the main part of that”.

“He’ll definitely win Premier League Player of the Season. I can’t see another player getting anywhere near him. His numbers are just ridiculous. He steps up to the plate in big moments and carries his team through hard times. He’s a world-class player and a top professional.”

The Egyptian has either scored or provided an assist in his last 9 appearances for the Reds.

Mohammed Salah could become the first African to lift the coveted Balon d’Or Award since George Oppong Weah won it in 1995 for PSG ahead of Jurgen Klinsmann of Tottenham Hotspur.
